Shot near the gun powder last night. Slow night but ended up coming home with a 28” Northern Snakehead. Easy 10lb+ fish.

Spent a little time on Sunday poking around the Gunpowder. Sometimes I take this river for granted. You would not think you are in Maryland on some of the stretches. I wish I could find bigger browns in this river. I know there are a few but they have PhD's in fly selection.
mike o I went by the lower gunpowder to see if there were any perch . There were no fish or fisherman. Some years the fishing can be really good there and some years really bad. 1 month ago

Fishing hurts and I have been in Hatteras for the past week TRYING to get anything to bite. The weather has been working against us with high NE winds, 6 straight days of sideways rain and cold. Yesterday was the first day with sun and wind shift out of the SW which is typically good for the Drum bite. We tried all the usual hotspots with fresh menhaden 55, 44, 43 and south side of Cape Point last hour up until dark and we still had all the bait we started with nothing touched it. Were back to cold north wind again today but at least there's sun... I hope to give it a try again tomorrow.

Went over the Conowingo Dam last evening and they were down to 1 spill gate hopefully that's it and we can get back on the river next week.

Drove over the Conowingo Dam last night and they had only 7 spill gates open. Seems like the river has crested and they are ramping down.

Frogman Wow it’s been a long time since they had that many open! Had to go to keys to get my first Spanish Mackerel ever. Small 10-12” but it counts! 4 months ago

Flyrob Nice looking Spanish and weather too. I'm jealous as I did not make it down to the keys this year. Covid and work got in my way. Light tackle Spanish fishing is so much fun and one of my favorites! Glad you found some... enjoy! 4 months ago

WALLEYE - Heard the Conowingo Dam was running 4 small and 1 large today so I jumped over there to give the walleye another try. Mike o had the same idea. It was nice seeing a fellow zooer in person. Did you get any bites after I left Mike? No bites for me again tried white and chartreuse gulps and the perch x-rap. The stretch of beach I usually fish was fairly crowded and I only saw one fish come up.BLUE CATFISH - While I was walleye fishing Liquid was fishing down river for blue cats and had some good action. With the striped bass pretty much gone for the winter these big cats are loads of fun to catch all through the winter and good eating too. No limit keep all you catch.

On Friday I saw they had large gates open at the Conowingo Dam so I decided to give the walleye another try. I managed to catch one and lost another both on the x-rap perch color. When I didn't catch a second fish I released the first one since he was just 15" If I look cold it's because I am!

WALLEYE WEDNESDAY - braved the snow after work to see if the walleye were biting. I got really excited when I started fishing as I kept feeling what I thought were hits but was actually sleet hitting my braid. Anyway it was very cold and windy. The water was so clear I did see at least one walleye following my lure but no takers. There was one other guy crazy enough to be out fishing and he did get 1 keeper. I was switching between a fire tiger and x-rap silver and olive he was using small white soft plastic... didn't have any or I would have switched.
