Last Wednesday evening Liquid and I took another SW wind beating on the flats. We endured the rough water until the wind laid down to almost flat calm. We managed to bring about a dozen undersized rockfish to hand with as many boils and short strikes. The grass was definitely a problem. If we were able to keep the grass off our poppers we either got a hit or a fish. Water temp was 68 clarity was good. The only thing that was picture worthy was the sunset.
mer47 Good to hear you guys had some action, pretty picture 4 days ago

Went up river yesterday. Water is still low, warm and clear. Managed one smallmouth, about 14”’

Flyrob Thanks for the update I was thinking of going out last evening but scrapped it because of the river being so low. In the deeper spots I could see allot of bait on top of the water. 1 week ago

I'm catching up with my posts from last week and the weekend. 10/09/20 Tyler and I tried the flats and got beat to death with the southwest wind. Pulled the boat and went up river fished topwater and caught one smallmouth and a few boils and chasers. 10/10/20 I waded the Hartford side and with topwater and same result minus the smallmouth. 10/11/20 Again waded the Hartford side with topwater and again a few boils and chasers but nothing came tight. The river was crystal clear and the lowest I've seen it in a while. water temp was low 70s and no bait around anywhere.

Saturday my brother in law and our friend Mark fished the stretch of the Yough above Ohiopyle. We caught smallmouth, browns and rainbows. I managed to... Show more

This past weekend Fishing Hurts and I again went and camped and fished the Cape Charles area of the Chesapeake and finally got dialed in on the speckled trout. We got blown off the water for most of the weekend due to high winds but the one day we managed to get out we did good. 2-4' of water on the grass flats using white gulps and a popping cork did the trick. Lots of trout action with one flounder mixed in. Caught a few as soon at it hit the water. Loads of fun and got dinner too.

I went out on the river yesterday at first light and fished until about 11. No topwater, no stripers. I caught a couple little smallies and had a surprise when I jokingly casted a Keitech to a carp that was sitting in the mouth of deer creek in about a foot of gin clear water and it ate it. One gate was open at 3500 cfs. The water was still very warm and gin clear.
Frogman Nice! These cooler nights should drop the water temps soon. As low and clear as I’ve seen in a long time. 1 month ago

Went to the conowingo dam yesterday just to see what's going on. 7 small and 0 large gates of flow and not much happening. Aside from a few carp nothing being caught. With the rockfish season closed until September 1st no line of slingers. Weird with such good flow that it was so empty there on a Saturday at that.
